How to apply for the Grammar Schools – 2024 Entrants
11 Plus Application Details – 2024 Entrants
Please see below a list of grammar schools in the West Midlands Grammar School partnership. The list does not include private selective schools, if there are any private selective schools you require information for then please advise us, we will be more than happy to advise you on the process for these.
It is the responsibility of the parents to submit applications for their children. The normal procedure is to visit the Grammar School website and access ‘Year 7 Admissions’ page. Here you will find the central portal to apply for the grammar schools onlines.
The online application form should be completed before the cut-off date for the West Midlands Grammar Schools. Please note that if the schools do not receive the applications before the cut-off date your child will not be able to participate in the 11+ examinations.
You will also need to fill in a Local Education Authority (LEA) school online form to advise the LEA that you are considering sending your child to a grammar school. This form is as important as the grammar school application form – if you do not fill one of these in, even if your child passes the test a place will not be made available at the grammar school.
It is recommended that your child’s application be submitted for more than one school. If all the Grammar schools are within your travelling distance, then apply to all of them.
We would like to stress that the 11 Plus examination is possibly one of the toughest examinations your child will ever sit because the outcome is only a pass or fail. Assuming that a particular school has an intake of 96 children, and out of say 4000 children who sit the examination 96 children score 100%, then they will be selected, if a child scored say 99%, that would be classified as a fail! The message is simple, fail does not mean that a child is incapable, sometimes we need luck as well!
Finally, we would like to wish your child the best in the forthcoming examinations. If you have any questions regarding your child’s education then please bring them to our attention.
